During the Mexican Border War of 1916 many US troops and National Guard troops from many states were sent to secure the US border.

This Real Photo PostCard (RPPC) shows one such trooper upon his departure to the Border.

Subject is identified as "Eugene Clarke" and "1916, Enroute to Border".

I do not know his state of service or if he was a US troop.

Any information on Clarke is appreciated.

Interesting to see his small carry bag. Looks to be just barely old enough to serve.

AZO stamp box and postally unused.

He looks a bit young. Did some research and although a bit fuzzy apparently one could join the army at age 16 at that time.

Thanks fort. I thought that by the 20th century, we (US) had gone to today's standard of 17 (with parent's permission) and 18 as an adult.
