It's been a while since I've found a nice painting and this one almost got away. It wasn't priced at Goodwill so when I asked it was whisked away to the back room. I was told the lady that prices art work wasn't in that day. So I came back the next day and they couldn't find it. Oh well, guess it's gone. I came back the third day and I saw a familiar frame sticking out from behind a few other pictures. What the....well guess it was fate. Anyway not much about this artist no first name or bio of any kind and there are plenty of Garcia's in the art encyclopedias. However, there are a couple paintings by the same artist similar to this on Ebay and the prices are in the hundreds. He seems to like painting scholars and rabbis using this same model. It's done in a very heavy impasto style. I would say it dates to the 60's-70's. Sort of reminds me of Rembrandt's scholarly portraits but with a modern twist. -Mike-

Hello,
From what I can see, Garcia is just a random name written on this commercial painting. Have a look at this painting in the first link. It is the same signature.
If you look at the second link, you will find the same signature but from what I can see, the seller is just trying to make a lot of money without knowing what he is selling.

Hello Matisse, Thanks for the info :)...I did see the second Ebay link you sent me. Yes that is an optimistic price for a MCM mass produced decorative painting. I do like the one I found however and the price was right.
