I purchased this steamer trunk... It's a Hartmann Turn Table Trunk Pathfinder Model. I fell in love with it, but I am not sure what I bought. Can anyone tell me a little history about this steamer trunk. Also the locks and hinges seem to not in perfect condition, is this something to be worried about?
This is a very nice example of a Hartman wardrobe trunk, most likely made around the 1920's to 30's. The style of drawers is very nice -- and they are in great condition. I would not worry too much about the hinges -- the interior is what really matters on these. Most of these trunks cannot fold back to back like this one -- a nice feature the maker designed. Hartman is a well known trunk and suitcase maker -- I have a couple of their works. These are great trunks but they do not have a lot of value.... not a large market for wardrobe trunks out there for some reason.
