Bedside carafes remain a popular item in Japan from what I can tell and they have made many variations of them.

These glass carafes and glasses both date from the 1960s and are just two of some I have.

Typically in this period they were made from coloured glass swirled with white slag glass. Lots of glass makers made these and at times they can be pretty difficult to attribute.

The orange one here is labelled HG, from the northern company Hokuyo Glass.
The unusual coloured red one is unknown. I know it has not been made by Kamei, Sasaki, or Kurata; it could be any one of a large number of other makers.

I love these. I am taken with the concept of the bedside carafe. I have collected a few nice ones over the years.
