You either love it or you hate it. This was one of the first things I saw when I entered the flea market at 8 a.m. this morning. It is in absolutely pristine condition. Nearly all of them with this design have pewter lids. Don't know which company produced it. I did find a similar one which was made in Japan.

    Thanks for stopping by.

As a former collector of German beer steins Bonnie, I can appreciate the quirkiness and wonderful design of yours! Thanks for sharing!

It says: "The Green Heath. The Hunter's Freud." (They Misspelled Freund for friend!)
    13. Celiene Celiene, 8 years ago
Or is that another way to spell friend in old German or something? Look up the phrase, and there are a TON of these all spelled the same.
    14. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 8 years ago
Celiene - Thanks, I do understand the German. "Freud" is an old German dialect/slang word. Here is a stein from the early 1900s, same spelling:

Hi, I'm so proud I just made my first post to CW of my friends stein. I'd looked real close at the bottom and noticed what appears to be a number 6 under the glaze, I promise you I have no clue about any of this stuff but that same mark is on this one also. Is this my imagination Bonnie? Call me crazy!
      Thanks!
