Found we still had this old Budweiser neon in the closet that my Dad had in the garage when I was a kid - where do I find Arizona collectors so I can find out about getting it restored? Looks like 1950's (as I have seen others posted here). Budweiser is 24" across, the red circle is just under 14" diameter.
thanks
You're right about the age. What's wrong with it? Is the glass broken or the wires broken off the electrodes? From the pic, looks like you just need to wire a transformer to it. I believe it takes a 7500v. It's cool that you remember this growing up.
Glass is good, I need to find a good repair shop in my area - any suggestions?
thanks!
If you were closer I'd help you wire up a transformer. I'm in the SF Bay Area. Google neon repair in Phoenix and I'm sure you'll find a sign shop that could help you. Good luck!
I've found and contacted a local shop - about what should I expect to pay for a transformer to be installed? Thanks.
If you get an original core and coil one (the heavy ones) they may charge you 75-100 installed. If it's an electronic one (the lightweight ones) probably 60-80. Post a pic when you have it fixed up.
thanks,
hopefully the local shop I sent pics to can make the repair/install at those prices.
I guess you never got it repaired?
Well, still thinking about it - best price here in Phoenix is $125, for a new transformer. Looks pretty good without being lit up - trying to justify the $ as a retired guy. Thinking about it.......
Understood, there is nothing like real ruby red tubing all lit up though.
If you ever drive up towards SF California, bring the sign and I'll help you wire up a transformer to get it lit up.

thanks - funny about travelling to SF, we'll be there in May, but flying and going light with luggage. Thanks again.
update -
decided to just put it up on the wall without spending the money to add a transformer. I like the feeling I get of remembering my Dad when I look at it.
Part of my growing up, a part of Dad still with me.
I'm glad you decided to at least keep it - later down the road you can always decide to wire up a transformer.
