I found that it was made by a Joseph Harris Corin between 1840-1879. I haven't found anything else like it. I purchased this for 30.00.
I'd love to know the value. I will keep it but I am curious as to what I have on my hands.
It is a nice example of an english traveling trunk.I think you did You well with your purchase. We tend not to do money values here on this site.You found an item from that said time period for $30.00 dollars what more could you ask for?This item many times would have originally been covered in animal skin,canvas or leather.Remnants of the glue appear on the side photo. All of those brass tacks around the perimeter lid would have held a dust cover as well.You are very lucky to have a label inside indicating the manufacturer and origin.The original interior paper seems to be intact as well .These are things that you don't find

He is listed in the Kelly's book of Leather trades 1880 Scotland and Wales.
