Hello There,
This is a beautiful peice. Wonderful dripping teal glaze over a relief of branches of cherry blossoms. Approximately 6 1/2 inches high, in good condition,( there's an old crack visible in the photos, on the shoulder, it doesn't go through to the inside ).
It appears to be handmade, so the design may actually be carved into the surface, not cast.
Does anyone recognize the mark?, and any idea how old it might be?
Thanks for taking the time to look, any comments will be appreciated
Hi from Sydney, Budek!
I see the central mark, the made in Japan, the foot, the lustre glaze and I think Awaji. Google: Libby Awaji Pottery. Made in japan means after 1921. That is the preferred period for collectors. The pottery worked from1820 to 1939. Nice pot!
Beautiful color.
I agree, it looks like Awaji, specially the glaze and color. I have a couple of Awaji vases, I will list them so you can compare.
Beautiful, I agree Awaji.
Thank You for the comments, Kevin, Scott, Spackova, and Pebbles!
