Often it is difficult to date an item but sometimes it is easy. Typed Erector no. 10042 into google about 1000 results of 1959. Good enough for me.
Anyway this the Gilbert Erector Set No. 10042 the Automatic Radar-Scope Set. It seems to be complete. I should be able to check it out in 2036. I think I have a few too many projects in the queue. Looks like it has many fun pieces and all the paperwork. The cover is in excellent shape with good artwork plus it comes in a high quality metal carrying case. Good thing as the contents are very heavy.
You and me both Fort. Great erector set.
Odd how how you can't remember what you had for dinner the day before, but you can remember the things you had and enjoyed when you were a child many, many years ago. Erector sets were great for young children. Thank You fortapache for bringing back very old good memory's.
Thank you very much Caperkid. I fear I have not progressed on projects tonight.
Thank you very much Padit. I can remember my toys quite well aside from whatever happened to my Cape Canaveral playset. I was playing with the figures in the car and that is last I recall of them.
What was the radar designed to detect? Please build this and pass on any results.
Thank you very much racer4four. New clear missiles? It looks easy but there sure are a lot of parts in there.
Thank you

Thank you SEAN68.
Thank you very much WesternPA-Collector. You may be right about its quality as a learning tool. They do take some skill to build.
