I bought this cool belt buckle in 71 0r 72 I found it very appealing and it was my bell bottom hippie period it is appx 3 inches across. I thought it reminded me of Aquarius my birth and just liked look of it . I wore it until the end of the hook broke :-( Tell today I never really looked at what it as about and I find it is a rather hard to find one and not many were made . It is Edgar Allan Poe and and his designs and words on it .
The back has a seal that reads "Napoleon Emperor" which has nothing to do with front it is symbol the maker Bergamot sometimes used . When one is found it will usually say it is Napoleon on front but not the case according to my research .
Images based on Edgar Allan Poe works, including the Tell-Tale Heart, Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Black Cat, and of course The Raven.

In Poe's famous poem "The Raven," the speaker, who has just lost his true love, Lenore, slowly goes mad from grief. The raven seems to represent a visitor from the world of the dead, and the only phrase it utters, "nevermore,"

Hi Manikin! I have missed you too! I have been trying to reconnect with everyone for a little while... good seeing you posting! I am well and I hope all is well with you. This is a really interesting belt buckle, definitely a 70's item. I'm sure you were "cool" back then and probably still are! I definitely remember the 70's, hippies, and Disco fever!!! I don't think I've ever seen a Edgar Allen Poe belt buckle before. This also makes a great Halloween posting. Good hearing from you, talk to you soon. Thrifty

Glad we connected today TG seems like so many of us oldies are disappearing off CW I do stop in daily but rarely post . Yes I went through a short Hippie stage for sure while I was working with my Nam guys after they returned home and worked in a Psychiatric hospital so we wore street clothes :-) Which included the clothes we all related too at the time xo Peace and Love :-)

You're right, there does seem to be a few folks missing... and I do have a few things I would like to post. It seems like I work all of the time with no time for "fun" stuff. I am definitely looking forward to a future with "retirement" in it! I remember you saying you were a nurse and helped alot of guys after the war, which is AWESOME!, I'm sure alot of the guys still remember you! Talk to you later, Peace and Love back at you! Thrifty

This Buckle is amazing. Love EAP, his stories and poems are great. Psychiatric nurses are special people with the most amazing patience and understanding. Lovely to hear your stories.

Wonderful! So much symbolism there, plus the Edgar Allan Poe relation make it fascinating.
I bet our dear Bb2 will be fascinated too ;-))
