BlackWatch, taking 2 posts, but here's what I have around the house. The armband is stamped SS & Polizei Division.I don't have time for a detailed description because I'm packing to start moving South. I'll answer questions as they come in.
A nice small collection, love it !~
Uh oh I didn't know it was German day. I'll see if I can find something.
Beautiful items, blunder. I really like the collar and shoulder tabs. I've never seen an armband like that before, but it is beautiful especially with the SS stamp, I'm sure this armband is rare? Also lovely Kreigsmarine tally. I didn't know the SS had a Polizei Division, very very nice things, blunder.
Excuse all my questions, I know you're busy right now Blunder, but after looking again, two objects peaked my interest in this lot. What's the eagle badge with the red and yellow?? I've never seen one like that before, it looks very interesting. Secondly, is that ring a Luftwaffe ring??? I didn't notice it the first time, but that ring look extremely fantastic, I love rings and the Germans had the best looking rings of WWII!
Extremely nice stuff, blunder, again thanks for sharing.
Sorry to be late responding. Had a little operation to remove some plaque from an artery in a leg. No way to sit up comfortably on this bed for any length of time. That eagle is gold on white & I don't know. Maybe for white dress. I didn't do any research on the armband until a few days ago. Seems the Polizei Division was quite large & were SS under Himmler. They mostly served in the East. & took a real beating in several battles leading up to the Battle of Berlin. They were also guards at consecration camps. Until a few days ago, I was guessing at an ID for German workers in captured areas. Now it seems to be an important item. The ring is controversial to some, but not me. I almost bought one I say at a gun show back in the 50's, and nobody was making fakes back then because the stuff was so cheap. It has the RZM marking. Feel free to ask questions that require short answers until I can sit up LOL !!
Just noticed I said "consecration camps". LOL !! Well, if it fits, wear it. By the way, by Jewish records & releases, only 1/7th of the prisoners that died in concentration camps were Jewish. Never hear about the other 6. Possibly the biggest hoax ever pulled.
Some really nice bits and pieces. Not sure about that armband though. Never seen one like that before and the quality of the cross isn't great. I actually wonder if someone has interfered with it at some point and replaced the swastika with the balkan cross for some reason. It's an odd one.
Elanski, I can't think of a reason why anybody would remove a swastika & replace it with the Balkan cross. There is no shadow evidence of anything else being there & the cross is sewn to the circle before being sewn to the band. The loose threads you see are the unclipped threads from sewing the cross & circle on & I'm not going to clip them. Crudely made, but the materials are good. Interesting mystery & now I'm getting interested in researching it further. Right now, all we can do is speculate. Released from hospital today but not supposed to sit for long periods, so it may take time and hoping somebody out there knows.
your posts are very interesting :)
Thanks Sean. I try to dazzle them with something. LOL !
Your welcome BB2!! THEN DAZZLE ME MORE MORE ;)!! LOL!!
Hi, I have a pin that matches one that you have on your Military Insignia and Pins post. It is the round one with the dark background and directly under the two patches with the two bars. My father was in WWII and we came across this pin here recently and would like to know a little about it. Thank you in advance. Mary
Mary, that's the Nazi social welfare, or Volkswohlfahrt (NSV). It was second in size only to the labour org. (DAF). The Nazi's seemed to have had good welfare services. Gillian, I'm at a loss as to what your comment refers to.
BlackWatch, I saw a documentary with that armband. It was only for a few sec's, but there were about 6+ soldiers in rank with that on their arm. Somebody has to know.
