I spotted this cement sack among the fishing poles at my favourite charity shop.

Monarch Cement Company took that name in 1913. I saw a fob from their earlier years before the change with an identical lion emblem. An undated enamel sign had the exact same lion and background, but by 1960 it seems they modified the image to be a right-facing red lion, sometimes also using a rightward yellow lion, and no hills.
My example is the left-facing lion, suggesting earlier make.

Content weight is not listed. I think they often reused their bags. It has many repairs. I'm wondering if the only other text on it gives clue to its age: "B-16-28". Possibly 1928?

I've emailed the HR department of the company, as they're still extant and have a decent write-up of their history. But who thinks to write on which way the lion looks? Hopefully they can better date it.

Nice find SpiritBear! :^D I have lots of old money, and bank bags, even flour and coffee bags, but have never seen cloth cement bags, and with great graphics too! Good luck finding more info about it! :^)

Thank you, Bill. It's awfully faded but still looks good.

Nice logo. If I had to guess I'd say B-16-28 could be to denote the batch made on the 16th week in 1928. Maybe.

Thank you, Elanski. I was hoping the company would be so kind as to look into their records, but as of yet: nothing.
