Two old friends I found last year. They have now got a good home together in my cabinet. They are both in great condition for their age.

I don't see any Steiff buttons but if Maniken gets on she will tune you up.

Here's a Rubylane blog that might help:

      Good Luck! :^)

Bitsnbobs123.a Don't give up just yet. That link only covers a very short era of Steiff. Steiff North America is in Rhode Island and I am sure they have a web site. You might want to send them pictures and inquire about these bears. I have a Steiff hand puppet from the 1950's which only had a loop and tag on the front, no button. Keep looking until you are positive then look in another direction.

To be honest I've had him a while and never really looked.

I know I have a couple in my collection but never really looked at this one, I just put him in my cabinet, I bought both of them together, they were used as props.

His nose is stitched a cross not down, he has no hump.

A photo of pads and a side view may help. It is pretty hard to say without a button or tag if he is a Steiff , He would have to be examined with him in hand by a Steiff expert . He is a wonderful old Teddy Bear however :-)

Thanks Manikin I've uploaded some more pics.

Hi Ive been told he's a peacock bear 1930s with crystal eyes.
    16. fhrjr2 fhrjr2, 5 years ago
Now the question becomes who told you he is a peacock bear and was that person qualified or guessing? It takes quite some time and research to solve these oldies that are unmarked.
