    AnythingOb…
    (1778 items)

ALSO A BELATED ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of the exceptional and incredible KINDNESS & GENEROSITY of a certain CW member in particular... ;-) :-) :-) :-)

A couple months or so I guess now this posting appeared on my 'new items' page, shown by our fellow CW friend billretirecoll displaying mostly some of his newer pocket knife collection, also including a few other interesting things in the photos.

    https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/271386-just-another-post-of-knives-because-i-l?in=1289-activity

One of the 'non knife' items in his pics intrigued me, as it struck me as something that I'd actually be able to use in my own day to day job -- I then left (what I intended/considered to be) a totally offhand comment somewhat to that point. [no pun intended there BTW...]

THEN, much to my amazement, further comments promptly ensued enabling a brief email exchange between Bill and myself. Indeed just a few days after all that, I found a little package waiting on my porch for me when I came home, containing the same exact interesting old tool. BUT WAIT -- THERE'S MORE -- once I opened it up, I soon realized there was something else besides the tool in there too...now I refer y'all to this slightly older showing of some of Bill's recent costume jewelry finds, where I likewise threw in a (intended to be goofy) comment somewhere along the way I think...

    https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/269199-maybe-one-more-closer-look-for-anythingo

Sure enough, there was yet one more thing tucked into the package with the old sailmaker's tool -- a totally cute by itself little drawstring cloth bag with *that* pair of earrings in it. The 2nd pic here is me "modeling" them <LOL> just for sh*ts and giggles but rest assured Bill -- I actually *am* still daydreaming about ways I might actually make (or otherwise get made, or whatever) something inspired by them that I absolutely *would* wear proudly... ;-) :-)

MEANWHILES and more back to the point [one more non-intended pun?] the 1st pic here shows the 'sail maker's pricker' amongst my otherwise set of assorted tools I really *do* use every so often at work, generally indeed to slightly enlarge (or clean out, or whatever) numerous sorts of holes in assorted things for my real job. The rest of 'em range from a dental pick to a scribe to an actual awl then one quite like a jeweler's ring sizing tool, with the exception of that one (?) I probably use all in 'non intended by their maker's' ways, though each in its own performs perfectly for what I need it for.

AND I REMAIN somewhat bewildered to think about suddenly finding myself to be the benefactor of Bill's generosity, what a "random act of kindness" indeed -- and trust me folks, such things don't often happen in my life...?? <lol>

MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU Bill, while also offering my most sincere gratitude in return. I can only hope by sharing this story, to help demonstrate to *everybody else* here at CW what truly fine folks we're surrounded with on a daily (for me, anyway?) basis, as we all otherwise go on abouts the bizness of enjoying everybody's 'junque' together...? :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

    --------------edit, a week later---------------

I've just added two new photos. #3 is intended to show the maker's mark stamped onto the sailmaker's tool, which reads "C. DREW & CO. MADE IN U.S.A.". That firm seems to have a long history of making all kinds of fine tools, maybe even sorta still doing so somewhere. #4 shows everything that came out of the package from Bill, including the cool little 'commemorative coin' bag (?) that I found the earrings tucked into. THREE CHEERS for BILL!!!! <applause>

      Bill is awesome.
You look most dashing in your surprise earrings and I hope you wear them when using the sail making tool.

Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you, and You are very welcome Tim, I was just happy to know that you could find a use for the Tool, and it could be used, even if not for what it was made for, kind of like giving it a new life, that it never would have had, if not in your care! So Cheers to You Tim! I loved the fun conversations that we had, about both the Sail Maker's Pricker, and the Earrings, and it was far more worth to me, than the things given to You! Take care Tim and maybe even let your Boss admire the Tool that is at your work bench! :^)
