    blunderbuss2
    (199 items)

Maybe this thing has vampire characteristics. This island is locked down and I've got cabin fever ! Also running out of food, but can live on brownies for about a week. Our PM doesn't seem to have made any plans to stave off starvation. C'est l'vive !

Similar here BB2, stay strong, can't last forever we hope

So that's what our PM looks like ! I'm staying home and hope all of you, who can, are too. This is not going away soon, so we have to get accustomed to our new world. Stand strong, wherever you are. Meanwhile, I'll trade 6 rolls of T-paper for a jar of mayo.
    3. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 5 years ago
Keramikos, we have plenty of mayo on the Rock, but ALL stores are ordered closed. We are basically under martial law. Beginning to get some food deliveries going though. The mayo truck "she no come yet, mon."

Pie here is 3.95 to 5.95 and up I am estimating now.
    5. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 5 years ago
Phil, I have been warning for a long time about a coming resurgence of pie-rates. Does anybody have anything I can poste for them ? I gave everything away when I went to KY for my heart attack and see no reason to renew collecting. I'm just following CW and sniping from the sidelines. LOL !

Not sure where you got your figures, kera ? There are lots of open spaces ! I saw one the other day. LOL ! Easily 80-90% of St. Maarten/St. Martin is uninhabited. Everybody lives in maybe 5 communities. I have to admit that these islands have really changed since I arrived 47 yrs. ago. I miss it! The "village" atmosphere is gone. Jump-ups are scheduled, instead of spontaneous. No sharing a catch by helping villagers pull in the jacks with nets. I am glad to have lived through that era. I miss it !! Still can't speak Dutch.
    7. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 5 years ago
English is the most heard on both sides, excluding the continental French. Go into a pub or restaurant and you will commonly hear 4+ different languages & even more dialects. Only in certain areas do you hear a lot of Dutch. I have learned over the yrs., by observation, whether to greet a person in Eng., Dutch, Span., Fr., Alabamese, Papiamento etc.. It is very common to hear words from diff. languages mixed into sentences. We also deal in 3 diff. currencies. Until I started answering this, I didn't realize how screwed up this country is ! We have gone as much as 6 months without a gov't. and nobody seems to notice. LOL !!! I guess the absurd is the norm here. It matches the Freres de l'Cote that live here. A bientot.
    8. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 5 years ago
Kera, guilders(florins) is the official currency on the Dutch side, €uro on Fr. side, but $(usd) is regularly used. Dutch is required in school, so virtually all locals speak it (both sides) as well as Fr., Eng. & a lot speak papiamento as well. Cruise ships hire them because of their skills in picking up languages. My profile has my email address, before CW taps us for fb-ing. 2 Ascension Days in Germany ?

At what point did I lose control of this poste ? TJ, we do get air drops, but it's nothing to eat. LOL !
    11. SEAN68 SEAN68, 5 years ago
BB2 , PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF:) Im worried about you , let know if you do get food .
    12. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 5 years ago
TJ, the air drops are from sea gulls & pelicans. LOL ! Sean, I'm doing fine and they are making deliveries from markets (only takes a week !). Decided to cancel my trip to NYC. I've seen and done more than 100 Americans put together and so couldn't complain if I croaked tomorrow. Take care of yourselves. All of you on CW. Bon chance from "The Friendly 'fk'n' Island". LOL !

Hey bb2, I was here! :^D I hope that you are still safe, we took a little down turn here in California, but maybe the State needed it, for some of the people to realize that this COVID19, is no joke, and not magically going away without everyone doing their part, by wearing a Mask, and Distancing, until they get a cure for it!
I wanted to thank Roycroftbooksfromme1 @ 23 for the youtube link, I watched the 2014 "Play For Change" videos, and Music for over an hour, with all people Singing and Playing the instruments from different Countries around the World, recorded, and combined, thought it was Great! :^D Thanks for the Post bb2! :^)

Bill, good to hear from you. Our PM closed the Rock as soon as this sh*t started and we are proud of her. Maybe starving soon, but no CV ! Now we watch in amazement at how much hate there is in the States. We figure Americans can't be happy unless they hate. Sing about brotherly love, but preach hate. Well, this isn't fb. Roy, our weather report says 0% chance of snow, but I wish you luck. In July ?

Blunderbuss2, I see you live in St. Maarten. My daughter has been in Martinique for some time now. You are almost neighbors. Every time the hurricane season starts, I start worrying about her. In March, we finally wanted to visit her but Corona didn't play along. Something else to worry about! We had to cancel our trip and don't know when it will be safe to reschedule. Hope you are doing fine and this whole BS is over soon!
    24. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 4 years ago
Freiheit, I knew "TO" well in the '70's-80's. I also know Martinique. It's about 400 mi. S. of us. Very seldom hurricanes drop that low, so I wouldn't worry about her much. Martinique & Guadeloupe are more French than Paris ! My idea of hurricane preps. is to buy a ticket to TO ! What does she find to do there ? Not much to Fort-de-France and the rest is country.
    25. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 4 years ago
Roy, got Har-ley last wk. & fixing it up to resale. XL883 Sporster & going to be candy apple red. After clean-up, it needs hard-ley anything. Will post before and after pix when we finish.
    26. freiheit freiheit, 4 years ago
I like your idea about hurricane preparations:) Too bad that as of now everyone returning from abroad has to self isolate for two weeks. She couldn't do that in our house because we are considered too old. Hopefully this will end in September.
What did she find there? Well, she likes the beach like her mom. She likes the language like her dad, and she found a boyfriend. What else is there to find?
      Gudrun
