      Hi, charmsomeone. :-)

My initial instinct on seeing the surname on the matting was "Hilton," and indeed there is an artist named "Hedley Hilton," but then I looked at the surname on the back label, and that first character looked more like an "F."

There was an engraver name named "Hedley Fitton":

      *snip*

Hedley Fitton was born in 1859 in Manchester, England. During the early part of his life, worked as an editor and illustrator for The Daily Chronicle in his home town of Manchester. He specialized in architectural etchings and gained notoriety for his finely detailed etchings of well known British and European structures. His etchings include street scenes and prominent cathedrals of such cities as London, Florence, Edinburgh, and Paris.

Fitton worked throughout England, Scotland, France and Italy and is nowadays remembered mainly as an etcher of architectural subjects.

      Original Hedley Fitton etching.

      Excellent signed proof impression.

The complex architecture of the beautiful Italian city of Siena proved a delight for Hedley Fitton's etching needle in this superbly worked plate. An outstanding example printed with delicate plate tone and exceptional contrast.

      charmsomeone, You're welcome.:-)

As vetraio50 pointed out, it's actually an etching, not an engraving. My bad. :-)

Now that the etching and its artist have been identified, could you please mark it as "Mystery Solved?"
