Another Boy Scout Merit Badge Book. This looks like one of the easier ones. The date on this is 1972 but it is revised edition. My guess is the original is from around 1960. The information seems a bit dated.
One of the things a scout is supposed to do is sketch a reptile they see. This is a bit difficult so they can trace the pictures. I haven't read the whole book but frogs are not reptiles.
Poisonous reptiles! But actually these are safe to eat. These are actually venomous . It is the largest section in the book. Note that keeping a poisonous reptile will disqualify one from the merit badge.
No I am not big on eating the gopher tortoise. Yes snakes eat a lot of rodents that can make life unpleasant.
And hopefully I can find something good tomorrow for next week's scout post.
Won't eat an of these.
"The gopher tortoise tastes like chicken"...no thanks...if I want something that tastes like chicken....I will eat a chicken. Since when was an amphibian a reptile? I missed that in my undergrad studies. This reads like one of those Mad magazines. Funny stuff...a keeper for sure!!
Cool, seems you have a big boy scout collection. Check out this 30s hat I found for the store..

Thank you very much mcheonni. They taste like chicken.
Thank you very much hoot. Yes the book is unintentionally humorous.
Thank you very much dav2. Nice. I see it has the official BSA label plus a snake bite kit.
Thank you very much Ms.CrystalShip. I would happily try rattlesnake.
