Box of Coins
Bought this box of coins yesterday for $10. I recognized a few coins from the picture in the ad. Lots of interesting coins in here.
In the 1st picture we have U.S. coins. There are Some Washington State tax stamps on the top row. There are plastic and aluminium tax stamps. We will discuss these in a future post as I have a small collection of these.
1886 penny
1903 & 1906 penny
1932, 1940, 1944, 1948 pennys
1907 V nickel
1935 & ? Buffalo nickel
1952, 1953, 2054, 1957, 1957 pennys
2 pennys upper right that are unreadable
The other pictures show various coins including Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Egypt, Great Britain, Korea, Spain, France and some other oddball countries.
There are some interesting coins including a shilling, a 3 pence, half cent, half penny and a Spanish coin with a hole in it. I thought it was an asian coin, never seen one.
Great buy!
"Some other oddball countries"?
^^^ <LOL> @ BB2's comment/quote ^^^
Aren't we all "oddball countries" these daze...??
Meaning..some you normally don't see in boxes like this. Normally US, Canada, France, Mexico etc
i send the coins dave , actually i am bit ahamed , there is not much value in it
Thanks Apostata..there plenty of value in studying each coin and learning about it. As you know face value is not everything.
it was all rather skinny so i put in an silver rijksdaalder and a siilver gilder and an 2 euro letvia and an two euro monaco , so at least you get some value
Dave, maybe Canada, but certainly not the U.S.. LOL ! France and Mexico is grasping for straws ! Keep my comment a secret since I have to live with the bloody Frogs !
I'm in the pacific northwest, so we're not far from Canada. The banks wont even take their money here...rolled up coins or not. Either spend it before you come back or throw it out the window before the border. Same reason we see lots of french coins...Canada!
And some of the coins are funny..like the little ones on the right. They are so small..like smaller than the size of your smallest thumbnail. I could barely hold it.
Apostata..stop. you're giving away the fun. Hope you're feeling better Sifu..
CAD is one the rise. You can throw your change my way. I have always carried a bag of misc. coins & bills to give to friends kids (well grandkids now). Never failed to distract them from bothering me ! LOL !!
I have 3 grandkids now..all boys! I used to keep all US coins before 1970. Then I found out they weren't worth much after 1964..after all the silver was gone.
And crap..a 1000 year old Chinese coin...$17! Gave that to my Chinese friend. Mom had it for 80 years...
Got some WWII paper money war pick up, I'll post soon.
Yeah, kids in those days were ecstatic over a small handful of "fur'in" coins. The grandkids now expect a spliff ! LOL !!
Not a bad score! Great find!
I was hand roll my change. And I always look at the dates too. A silver US quarter is worth a little over $4 at the moment
i have been a mustashas to solve problems between muslims and israelites, i recieved a set of coins peoples shaking hands ( egyption i believe ), i asked why, well you never charge riba ( expense compensation ), i gave the coins away unfortunately,
they fell sorry probably and the gave me a painting of holding hands a few years ago
not a sifu , but Keiken h?fu
keiken hofu s... translater ,
Wakaranai..don't understand what those words mean?
Something about experience..?
Something similar to sifu?
sifu depends on the intonation sifu is honorary like sensei
nowadays sifu is a rather common word, if you order a bricklayer they ask sifu , which means a good one , or also called in the meaning of seazoned
i don,t know what Wakanaranai is , did i text that ?
Wakaranai is Japanese means "I don't understand".
I was honoring you with sifu! You are a Sensei(teacher) to all of us peasants.
keiken hofu..
I didn't understand what that meant
Maybe you prefer shifu? Ha ha
i know what Wakaranai is , but WHAT did,, not you understand , misunderstanding
keiken hofu..
What does this mean? I wasn't sure..
all titles are bs, i and i never undestood my rinpoche, just thought about Frence Frite and women in silk stockings
meaning is experienced
Ok, that's what I thought it meant..
"Money is the root of all evil". Actually, it's the LACK of money.
