Oatman Arizona is along an old alignment of Route 66. Very narrow and crocked road connects Oatman to Kingman. Oatman is very close to the California border. It looks like an old west ghost town although many of the buildings are actually made from corrugated metal. Not sure when Oatman became a tourist destination but that is what it is. A lot of fun little shops and an antique store with tons of taxidermy. For some reason bikers are huge on going to Oatman. Perhaps it is a Saturday thing and they like to watch the gunfight reenactment as they all got there in time for that. It is very close to California near the Colorado River.
In the various photos 1st is the restaurant. There is another one across the street in the Oatman Hotel. No rooms for rent there just the restaurant is open. Third photo is a small shop with dollar bills stapled all over it. I wouldn't try and take one off the wall. Got a feeling there is a lot of ordinance behind every counter. Oatman residents are very independent.
Lastly Oatman is famous for wild burros that roam the street. When I got there there were no burros to be seen and I had carried my bag of burro food around for an hour. The burros finally showed up after the gunfight. After leaving Oatman I saw a burro along side the road and I pulled over. I had some left over burro food and I made a new friend. People were taking pictures as they were driving by.

Was there any particular reason for all the dollar bills?

My wife and I went to Oatman a few years ago. Great place to visit. took a rest in a small cafe.... when, in came a burro, I guess he wanted a treat. the waitress gave him his treat and shooed him out the door.
Looks like that interesting town might have been a mining town wayback when.
      Nice post....
