Picked this up at the Palm Springs Vintage Market. The difference between this and other flea markets is that they have mixed drinks in Palm Springs and I had myself a Bloody Mary.
Before I forget this is 16" wide x 9" high and 6" wide. It has plenty more space for more critters. There are only 4 butterflies in it but they are excellent ones.
The most striking is the Blue Morpho which is from Brazil and other South American locations. It is bright blue on one side and brown on the other. The blue color is from the additive color wheel which means it comes from a mixture of different colors being reflected off the wings. They are really blue, go figure. Same with blue jays. The others I am not sure about although I am thinking the last one is a variation of a swallowtail.
Not sure if I can get this open but in the meantime I will see if I can hide the tacky clock.
Really great butterfly terrarium fort, love that blue morpho
The clock isn't *that* bad fort...yes a little tacky, but could be worse, and the colorful butterflies pull one's attention away from it anyway?! (unless you're really looking to tell what time it is...?)
These are some extremely beautiful butterflies, especially the blue one!!
Thank you very much Newfld.
Thank you very much AO. I still would like to add to the display.
And thank you very much Scott. The Morpho is a hit.
