      Hi, Raulston1986. :-)

Cool. Is there anything on the other side of the tape measure?

I didn't find a twin, but I did find a Bakelite Integrity tape measure that lists a patent:

      *snip*

This is a really nice Bakelite tape measure with the name integrity. It has a crest with a horse and a Kight sitting on a horse with a lance in his hand. It has a number 1015 and is a 6 foot tape. As a US patent 2.011.081. Steel tape is made in Germany and is stamped integrity.

      The 1935 patent:

Here's another Integrity DeLuxe tape measure with a metal/metal-clad case, but it's octagonal:

      *snip*

Vintage 2" x 2" Octagonal Case Integrity DeLuxe 6 Feet Measure Rule US Pa tent, Made in Germany This is a really unusual tape. Not only is it neat looking, the tape locks as it is pulled out. Another slight tug and it retracts. Also the silver markings on a black tape are different.

There's at least one older patent for a coiled tape measure in a case (July 14, 1868):

Hmm, dunno why Google Patents wasn't cooperative earlier, but here is the GP listing for that July 14, 1868 patent:

      https://patents.google.com/patent/US79965A/en

Somebody else patented a spring-loaded tape measure device in 1864:

      https://todayincthistory.com/2019/07/14/july-14-a-tale-of-two-tape-measures/

Sure would like to see that British one:

      *snip*

A small Georgian Tunbridge ware painted wood tape measure. Circa 1800-1820. It has its original silk ribbon marked with measurements, which can be retracted by turning the top. This early example has a chip to the top and the ribbon is incomplete. It measures just over 1 inch(2.6 cm. high.

Here are some cool old ones:

I have one almost exactly like it that was my parents, and I'm 60!
    5. keramikos, 4 years ago
      Celiene, Good point. :-)

This particular tape is probably not older than 1935, but could well be newer. Certainly I myself remember metal-clad, retractable tape measures from my childhood.

Here's another history of tape measures (it has more than a few patent numbers listed in it, so it's valuable that way):

Here's a 1948 patent for a metal-clad tape measure where the shape is still round, as opposed to round with a flattened side:
