This piece has me puzzled. First the matt and shiney gold combo, then the enormous detail on every surface, the 100 bats and the almonds or peaches and the very unusual gilded mark. Can anyone shed any light on this. Era? Please. Thanks.

This obe asks more questions than I can answer. It was originally purchases in Japan in the 1950s. I suspect it was old then as the mark is in an old form calligraphy.

i must be missing something, because this is very strange, first of all i am ABSOLUTELY GUESSING!!!

to me the the mark is extremelij strange IMO they abbreviated an quianlong mark and stylised it very heavely , after putting it in the centrifuge

i still believe it is 20 century lacquer gold, and i still believe it is quite reasonable value

i say it explicitly again i am guessing , you need an better expert for this and an REAL GOOD!! one actually i mean you need an genius
