Loetz 'ARGUS' (PG 2/351) 17.5 cm (~7") high c. 1902 (PN unknown).
Argus Panoptes was a hundred-eyed giant in Greek mythology. He was the son of Arestor, whose name "Panoptes" meant "the all-seeing one". He was a servant of Hera; one of the tasks given to him was to slay the fearsome monster Echidna, wife of Typhon, which he successfully completed. Also the title of a classic album from 1972 by the English rock band Wishbone Ash.
It just emanates quiet luxury!
Oh my goodness, I am not sure how I missed this one! This is stunning!!
