This is a set of four traditional metal Boy Scout neckerchief slides and each one is different. The two at the top are the older style and the bottom two of course the later. Both are fairly common so the switch was probably after 1970.
The major difference is that the earlier ones are a two piece with pins to attach them together. I believe these were cast. There is a "1" on the underside of top left slide and a "2" on the other.
The bottom two are one piece stamped metal, the flaps are folded over on the back. The one on the lower right is a bit smaller than the others are the quality is much lower. The other actually works as a slide the best of all the others and is the easiest to use with a neckerchief. It has more room for the cloth, perhaps twice as much as the earlier type. The others can be a bit like threading a needle. It is probably the one I use most for all the various photos.
Last photo is a free bonus of some other slides. Cub Scouts, Webelos and some less traditional Boy Scout slides.
Nice collection. I like the variety in the last photo
