    Charms or CrakerJack?

I bought this small box full of charms recently. Are these Crackerjack or charms? Or both? There seems to be some old school images, like a piano, drum, old prop planes, pipe, trunk, etc.

Nothing is magnetic, except the screwdriver looking one. A few are plastic coated with chrome paint.

    Any opinions are welcone.

My vote is for both gumball machine charms and cracker jacks prizes

Thanks V33. I never thought about gumball machines...makes sense.

      dav2no1, A floor wax AND a dessert topping. };-)

      *snip*

When the charms in the collection that prompted today’s column were made, Cracker Jack did not have an exclusive distribution agreement with any toy company. Some prizes were imported from Germany, but most were procured by the Dowst Brothers Co. and its Tootsietoy subsidiary. (Tootsie also supplied Milton Bradley with Monopoly tokens, some of which were the same as the Cracker Jack prizes.)

The miniature toys in today’s collection are typical of the Tootsietoy Cracker Jack prizes and the Milton Bradley Monopoly tokens of the pre-World War II era.

The funnel, pipe and binoculars could be strung on charm bracelets; the spinning top could be used for games; the rocking horses could be part of the furnishings for a doll house; and the Charlie Chaplin and Uncle Sam were used as lapel buttons.

Collectors love Cracker Jack prizes, since they are usually inexpensive, and bunches frequently are found tucked into shoeboxes or doll houses in older estates.

The last picture shows the other side of the train. It has a name but hard to read?
    7. keramikos, 3 years ago
I see what you mean. I'm afraid that I can't quite read it, either. It looks like **EEI.

This piece has lists of Cracker Jack prize makers:

I don't see anything close in there, so perhaps those initials represent an actual railroad name?

I just saw they are now gonna make Cracker Jill...why can't they leave stuff alone? Come up with a new idea rather than ruining an icon with their political correctness..
