This was a super find on eBay AU, a "sleeper" listed as Fenton carnival glass.
I recognised what it was, & hoped that nobody else did! (Lucky for me, they didn't)
The bowl is made from green glass with an iridescent finish, there is also a martele decor on the outer side. It measures 21.5 cm across the widest point, 9 cm tall at the highest point, & 7.5 cm across the base, which has a polished out pontil mark.
For its size, it is lighter in weight than it appears. Those punched out handles are absolutely iconic!
Snap! Always great to find a treasure wrongly listed!
Oh, what a terrific find!! I love these punched handle pieces, and yours is a beauty! Isn't it wonderful to find a sleeper? This will be beautiful in your collection, Marin!
Absolutely, Peggy - I'm always on the hunt, this came through a search for Fenton glass, as Victorian art glass is sometimes listed as Fenton. This was even more of a bonus!
Thanks so much, Michelle!
I love sleepers the most, it's such a thrill every time I find one. And even more thrilling to find an example of this decor, as I've never seen one in person before!
a masterpiece and great pictures compliments
Many thanks, kivatinitz!
