Fritz Heckert Enameled Vase with Lady, c.1900

I received this vase as a gift from my lovely husband, who knows my attraction to Heckert vases. It goes beautifully with my little Heckert faun vase that you can see in image 3. Since this series of decoration features fauns, sphinxes and other mythical creatures, I believe my new lady is actually a goddess (of spring, due to the flowers in her hair?), in keeping with the theme. What I particularly like about this series, in addition to the mythological motifs, are the detailed woodland flowers that twine around the portraits. My little faun vase has honeysuckle or woodbine, while this vase has double celandine. Unlike the faun vase, this vase is extremely light for its size (the glass is quite thin), and it has a smokey color without the purple tones of the other vase. It measures 5" (12.7cm) tall.
