Purchased this from an Estate Sale from a woman that said she purchased it in France 50+ years ago., however it is . It’s stamped Collection Francaise Made in USA. I can’t find another one like it to try and find it’s age. My thought is that it is from the 1930’s. Any thoughts are appreciated!

A lot of figurines were made originally and H.B. Hirsch dug up the moulds from the old bronze foundries in france and used the moulds to make a lot of lamps in particular. The finish could not be any newer than this. They were actually made sometime in the early 1980's. They were documented in the books The Ency of Bronzes 1800 to 1930 where the author shows pics of himself test working in the Hirsch Foundry in NYC about 1979 to 1980. They shared all their info with him. They started to make them right after WW2 in particular but these were some of their last ones made in the early 1980's. They are heavily collected and are made of 99.9 % zinc or pot metal as the authour states. They then labeled it as "French Bronze" which a lot of their work was labeled in their Collection Francaise. This one carries the deco feeling very well and is a nice example of their work. They also made some other statues which the originals were done in the later 1800's to early 1900's. They are highly collected and there was a lot of incorrect info about them in the 1980's in particular, which is part of their history. I have put a lot of their history on this site in some of my examples !~

These were only sold thru American and Canadian venues and Her getting it in France is a likely made up story.

Phil is a expert on these types of Deco Figures. I do agree with Phil it looks like a new finish but the piece is gorgeous !
