Picked this up at the PCC Flea Market last week. It is a portable transistor radio which is only powered by batteries. I can't read the name which is in cursive. It is a rather heavy radio at close to 3 pounds. It is AM/FM which probably makes it 1960s. Perhaps later 1960s. Back when FM stations were good.
If you check photo #4 you will see the antennae goes into the side of the radio. That is the inside of the back piece. After you pull out the antennae you can turn it up and extend it.
Not sure if it works. I would have to invest in batteries first. Unlike the old days all I have now are AA and AAA batteries and those will probably go extinct soon. But it is quite stylish.
PS it was made in Germany but apparently for the UDS market.
Portable K986 Südfunk-Apparatebau 1960-1961 Stuttgart, Germany.
Very nice ,,,I can’t see where the batteries go,,
I also see a transformer in there
Thank you very much Vynil. They go in the lower left and the battery holder comes out.
Very nice Radio in great condition. I don't know about radios, but I checked online & found somethings. The first letter looks like a German script S. I found the manufacturer name is Sudfunk. (umlaut above the u) in Stuttgart, Germany around 1950s-1960s.
I found one similar here with some info:

Also, a listing of their radios:

Yours is probably model #93516. (From your fourth photo), but I didn't find it in the list.
Cool Radio.
Here is a link to Radio museum. about your radio

Thank you very much Alfie. That is it.
Thank you very much Dan. I shall have to amend my post.
The transformer you see in the center bottom is an output transformer,
which goes to the speaker.
