This is my second AK47 bayonet. This one is more like a proper knife plus it can be used as a wire cutter. I am thinking it is circa 1980 but I could be mistaken. But the wire cutter bayonet also came into us in the US about 1980 so that is what I am thinking.
The length on the blade is 5 3/4" which is a tad short for a bayonet but not by much. There are not many bayonet charges of late and the main purpose of bayonet for the century has been for use as a tool.
Note this has the clip point of the Bowie knife and it is a lot like the Ka-Bar of WWII.
It appears you have a AKM Type I bayonet with the wire cutter...that was introduced in 1960. I will have to pull mine out of the safe..I have a different type scabbard..but still has wire cutters. And I'll show it on my Norinco Mak 90.
