Happy Thanksgiving To My CW Friends!
Just in time for Thanksgiving. L.E. Smith Turkey Candy Dish. I actually gave this to my friend's wife for her birthday last week.
In 2015, I had to work for Thanksgiving. It was super cold out and I remote started my truck before leaving. I came out to find this bird on my hood.
Yesterday I made two heaping bowls of pasta salad to bring to dinner. This is a special family recipe that my friend gave me. She used to make it just for me, but she moved further away so she gave me her family recipe so I could still enjoy it. It's marinating as we speak. She also used to make me the best homemade lemon meringue pies!
Happy Thanksgiving! I do not celebrate it but have one of these turkey candy dishes that belonged to my grandmother who passed in 1958. It was given to me by my mother so I have to remember to pass it on, probably to my grand neice.. I do have some cousins on that side, though.. Thanks for reminding me!
dav2no1, So ya had a secret pal gift you with that L.E. Smith turkey dish, which you in turn passed on as a birthday gift, huh? Cool :-)
With regard to working on holidays: been there, done that.
Lessee, let me dig up some T-Day music.
There is of course the old, traditional "Over the River and Through the Wood":

Then there is the newer, traditional "Alice's Restaurant Massacree":
Alice's Restaurant Massacree · Arlo Guthrie

Plus, my own traditional T-Day favorite, "Lonesome Electric Turkey":
Lonesome Electric Turkey (Live At Fillmore East, June 1971) · Frank Zappa · The Mothers

And because Thanksgiving is about getting together with family (whether blood family, or chosen family):
Sly & The Family Stone - Family Affair (Official Audio)

Now I'd better get my tail in gear, and get ready to join my own personal Group W bench.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Kera..huh? No secret pal gifted it to me? It was one we had in inventory, so I bought it from our etsy store. Since Thanksgiving was upcoming, I figured it would be a nice gift.
Thanks for the holiday music! And FYI..I had to work that day, but made double time and a half!
Kwqd ..You don't celebrate, but here you are spreading holiday cheer! It would be cool if I had an amber dish. These dishes don't hold a huge value. Sounds like yours has some sentimental value, which is priceless. My friends wife likes to cook, so I thought it would be a good table decoration for their holidays.
Happy Thanksgiving Dave! Great post, love the LE Smith turkey dish I have one in red, super server at the holidays
Thanks Newfld, FortA, Bb2, Kwqd, V33, collectorpaul
Happy holiday Dave,
That bird is really incredible. It looks like a large bird of prey flying over the landscape looking for its Thanksgiving meal.
Happy holidays to you and your family and all of our CW friends.
dav2no1, Whoops, I misunderstood.
In reading back, it sounds like on that cold 2015 Thanksgiving morning when you had remotely started your truck and later came outside to discover "this" bird on the hood, you meant that you found some live bird perched there, because it was the warmest place that the poor little thing could find.
Kera..you're still confused..lol..there's 3 different things in the post. I just combined them for a turkey day special post.
Hotairfan..thank you very much! Always enjoy your informative posts. Keep showing us those cool items
Also thanks to..vetraio50, cisum, vcal, drake47, Leilani, cokeman1959 and searching1
Hope everyone had a great holiday!
dav2no1, D'oh! I finally see the frost image of the bird on the truck hood.
My head hurts now (and it ain't because of all that Pennsylvania Dutch Egg Nog I drank yesterday).
Happy Thanksgiving Dave!! Your pasta salad looks incredible!!!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS dav2no1!!
