This whistle has the trademark engraved on the top. It says Thunderer Whistle made in the USA. It was found in a old home that was on an old school grounds. The grounds had a school building a gym and a home. The school hadn’t been in use since the 1950s. I’m just curious about it

Welcome to CW. Looks like you have a brass whistle. Acme made millions of whistles and are still available today. Not sure how you'd date it..I imagine if you can see inside, the older ones have a cork pea(I believe).

As for the USA..was made at a U.S. plant. They also had a Canadian plant.

dav2no1, Ya beat me to the draw. };-)

Here's an old post with an English-made Acme Thunderer with some links I provided for CJ2020:

Curiously, all of the Thunderer whistles at that Acme USA site seem to be imported from England.

Here's one with a patent number engraved on it:

Some explanation about that somewhat confusing patent number:

      *snip*

Vintage Provisional Patent Hudson Acme Thunderer Whistle Circa 1924-30 Escargot Type Early Example

Item - Vintage ACME (Hudson & Co Ltd) Thunderer Whistle, Circa 1924-30s; this particular whistle is a early example of it's type as it carries the Provisional Patent Mark for 1924...this was only used until full patent was granted.

Maker - J Hudson & Co. of Birmingham, England

Marks - Stamped to the top with THE ACME THUNDERER and PATENT 213467/24 (this is a provisional patent granted to Hudson's by the British Patent Office in 1924); the underside of the whistle is also stamped with MADE IN ENGLAND.

Dunno, I'm still a bit confused as to why a whistle that was invented in 1884 wasn't patented until 1924.

Kera...If you look at the wiki link I provided, it shows all the approved patents..the link you provided has a whistle with the patent 213487..that is for...

      1923 213487 Groove in cap for escargot-type

      Thought this was interesting..

"In 1912, the company made whistles that were used by the crew on board the RMS Titanic."

dav2no1, Ah, OK, I didn't read the wikipedia piece thoroughly.

Yup, the Titanic: still fascinating and creeping out people 110 years later. >8-0

FWIW I haven't read any of the links either, though I do own half a dozen-ish ACME whistles. Most of mine are probably newer and have a slightly tapered 'mouthpiece' unlike this one that has parallel sides, which would suggest to me that it is a different (older) model, at least. FWIW... :-)

Also a really cool thing that yours has its original chain and clip still attached!!
