    Cabinet card shows Brevet Brigadier General James O’Beirne wearing his Grand Army of the Republic uniform.

    The medal on the left is the Medal of Honor. Presented for his actions during the Battle of Fair Oaks on 1 JUN 1862.

    Then Captain O’Beirne, of the 37th New York Infantry, was recognized for gallantly maintaining the line of battle during the fight.
