I believe this may one of the earliest of the Log Cabin Syrup tins. According to a post on a site called Collector's Weekly it is copyrighted 1914. In 1979 a bank version of this tin was released so I am thinking this would be one of the earliest. The graphics are more ornate than the later graphics. It always seems that graphics get less ornate as time goes by.
This tin is labeled "MEDIUM SIZE" and it is the size of the typical tin, 4 1/2" wide x 5" tall x 3" deep.
On top is the direction to see the underside of the tin for directions on opening. This direction was apparently ignored as a hole was punched in the lid cap instead of removing the cap. Don't think screw tops were around in 1914 but even later tins didn't have screw top caps.

Funny ..I was just thinking about pancakes. Mom used to make us chocolate chip pancakes. Never really got into Maple syrup. But when we traveled over the border to Mission Canada to the dragstrip, we used to stop for breakfast at a pancake house..think it was Rockos? Anyway..they had fresh Maple syrup and probably first time I really enjoyed pancakes and syrup.
