Found this painting today at an art gallery in Buffalo, NY that is closing. Not sure who the artist is but it was sold with a book that was published in 1945 titled, “Men Without Guns” by DeWitt Mackenzie. I suspect the book came with the painting because the artist is one of the artists featured in the book. Maybe Robert Benney? I’ll need to examine some of his other paintings more closely to see if there are any clues. Perhaps there is a signature that is hidden by the frame so may ultimately take it apart to check…
