Here are two wooden mouse traps dating back to the start of the 20th century.
Photos #1 and photo #2 show a trap that doubles as a toy for the kids, because the trap catches the mouse live and the mouse can enter the circular area and run on the wheel in a rotating pattern, entertaining the kids.
Photos #3 and #4 shows a trap that is not so nice to the mouse. It is called a deadfall mouse trap. The bait sets on a paddle in the middle of the heavy wooden block, and when the mouse tilts the paddle, the block deadfalls on the mouse and surely sends it to the next world.
Now, this is something I've never seen before. So VERY interesting.
Almost feel sorry for the mouse.
I have to admit I like the mouse-wheel trap! It would be entertaining for the children, then, after their bedtime you could turn the mouse loose near your cat so the cat could “enjoy” it also. {:-/
