Seen in the wild, this is part of an estate of items in a house we are selling, and has been owned and treasured by the homeseller since it was purchased new for her 1953 ranch house in Albuquerque. It's gorgeous. There is a guy trying to steal it away for almost no money, doesn't think the value is there. Would love to know if anyone has thoughts on value. We have found one online that had been restored, and it sold for quite a lot. This one is the original finish...and again, it's pristine. And all the parts still work!
Items like these are often tough sells and require the right buyer. Even in working condition, the age of the item will require extensive work to "go through" all the electronics. Additionally there's a lot of nice examples because people treated these like furniture and took care of them.
Here's one on etsy that sold for $60..

I spoke to that Etsy seller. He did not sell that for $60. Not even close.
(that Etsy seller recommends $500 minimum)
Etsy is not the place to sell furniture so I'm not surprised. Large pieces of furniture are on a downward swing and furniture as a whole is a tough sell right now.
You can ask whatever you want. A specialty auction may be an idea..but fees and shipping will eat that profit up. As a 5 star esty shop owner, I can tell you shipping has increased twice in the last several months.
I believe that Etsy seller sold it locally. He is also a 5 star seller, and I believe has a brick and mortar store with furnishings. He sold it in 2014 for $500 and would shoot for about $1200 nowadays......in our market, I think that what the owner is asking ($500) is totally fair. This is not a $60 item...if you saw it in person you would know. We have about 5 people in line to buy it behind the guy that wants to low ball (we have moved on from him).
2014 is a long ways from today's market. This is a tough sell. Large items are not moving. We buy/sell items weekly and sell at fleamarkets. Good luck with the sale.
