Mid 1930s Hamms Cans + Canco Church Key
OK last Hamm's Post.... For a While Anyway
Not another Church Key Post!!
Pre Crown Church Key for sure :)
Hamms went directly from bottles to Flat Tops.... None of those silly Crowntainers or Cone Tops
They had instructions on the can to help aid the beer drinker start the flow.
Canco had these Church Keys available for Keglined cans (which these cans are)
The openers had quite a bite on them to puncture the steel can.
Notice they still had the bottle opener on the other end for the pre-can drinker. Kind of a transitional Church Key at the time.
I'm sure the tough steel cans were opened with a hammer and screwdriver out of the toolbox if the Church Key wasn't to be found.
Hamm's Beer..... "Smooth and Mellow"
Thanks Much for Looking!
Nice Flat Top Cans
I have abstained from going completely crazy with the opener posts... LOL
I DO have a couple that are OLDS like those cans. One is CANCO like yours
BUT Mine says HAMMS BEER SMOOTH & MELLOW on one side
QUICK & EASY OPENER
CANCO
MADE IN USA
on the flip side
The other is for CANS ONLY
Marked HAMMS BEER on BOTH SIDES
Nothing Else , no maker or patent, and NO Bottle or Cone Top Cap Lifter provision. The really old bottles had BLOB top with cork and then the metal "Bail" with porcelain stopper and a gasket.
Nice... I have two of those BLOB top and hardware bottles also.
The Church Keys sound like keepers.
Thanks All for the Appreciation of my old Hamm's Cans and Opener :)
