The décor, Burnt Orange Mica, is not often seen and what prompted me to buy these. They have a brick red inner, mica inclusions, and an amber outer casing. Due to the amber casing the mica looks golden as do the thorns. I thought I'd bought my last thorn vase but some times you have to make exceptions.
Height 30 cm,/12 inches.
Well worth making an exception for these. Very different.
Unusual color for sure. These vases always intrigued me. They remind me of rose bush canes, not in a bad way just very organic and inspired by nature.
what a great pair
I love these. This decor is among my favorite Welz decors.
mikelv, I totally get what you are saying. In fact the aim of making them look like a work of nature sometimes just makes them look untidy. These ones are definitely autumnal !
kivatinitz, I think so too, Sylvia, and a good example of the relaxed way Welz used colour.
welzebub It is a nice décor, Craig, but if I'm lucky enough to find another example I'm hoping for a vase. Nice use of your two zipper vases btw.
Love how the spiky bits are Yellow, makes them stand out a bit more than the usual clear. As you know I like spiky bits :)
I love these too, though more for their rare décor and golden thorns than general spikiness!
Wow22, I am sorry to find that I didn't reply to you at all. I probably did reply but then clicked 'enter' rather than scrolling down to the 'submit comment' button as you need to do here.
Others made thorn vases but kept them in line with nature's colours. Welz however made them in stripes, vivid colours and even spatter décors. And with mica as we see. here.
