Vintage Steel Eagle "The Gasser" 2 1/2 Gallon Gas Can
Just the way I found it.... free on the street. Some guy was cleaning out his garage.
He didn't need it anymore as he bought one of those newfangled lithium battery powered lawnmowers.
Nice old Eagle galvanized 26 guage Model M2 1/2 portable gasoline delivery vessel.
Made in the USA.... I like that :)
I love the name... "The Gasser".... makes me want to build a 1955 Chev Shoebox Straight Axled Gasser.
I love these old gas cans as they don't have those safety flame arrestors and such to make you spill gasoline all over the place. I figure I don't need such safety features to protect myself from myself. I'm smart enough to keep gas cans away from ignition sources.
I'm not sure if I'm going to clean off the grime.... it kinda' gives it character.
If I do clean it up.... I think this beauty will shine.
Thanks Much for Looking!
I remember these, they were the option, back in the day. I also remember that the vessel evolved into a container with a handle you pulled back to open the spout. Hated that, they were responsible for much spilled gaso.
I must be loosing it...thought I had posted my gas can recently. I guess I'll post it now..its a mystery..
American jazz trumpeter, Roy Eldridge - nicknamed "Little Jazz" comes to mind with "The Gasser"....
