This is a cute & unusual small vase that I purchased at the monthly antiques fair yesterday.
I also ran into Karen at the fair & we had a great time looking around the stalls together!
The vase is made from a single layer of opaque custard glass which contains uranium & shows an intense green glow under UV light.
It measures 13 cm tall, 2.5 cm across the crimped top rim, & 3.3 cm across the base, which has a neatly polished out pontil mark. The form is simple, a spherical bottom topped with a thin neck, in the "stick vase" form often seen in Victorian art glass (typically satin glass items). But the tiny, flower - like crimped top adds a quirky touch. The vase is small but surprisingly heavy, & the overall finish suggests a quality manufacturer. It is small & simple but has a lot of character, which is what grabbed my attention.
    I have a gut feeling that it's of English origin, circa 1880s - 1890s.

      Ooh, it IS uranium.
Such an understated vase, but a nice one.
