This is a stunning piece of Art Nouveau glass that I found online within Australia. It was a great deal, I guess due to some miniscule losses to the base - otherwise it is perfect!
It is made from green glass that contains uranium & glows brightly under UV light. The seller had not mentioned this so it was a nice bonus on arrival (I always assess anything with potential). Though the shape looks cylindrical, it is actually more of a squashed cylinder (not really a true oval either).
The vase has an iridescent finish & an embossed pattern of ferns (or maybe palm fronds) & an applied footed base. It measures 26 cm tall, 4.4 cm across the widest point of the top rim, & 9 cm across the widest point of the base.
Bohemian origin, circa 1900. Sold as Loetz but maybe Kralik or Welz? I have a square sectioned ruby iridescent vase with a similar ferny pattern.
It's beautiful, as is the rest of your amazing collection!!
Nice bonus UV
a forest in a small sculpture.... more than a vase
Many thanks, Scott!
