For some time, I've needed a new display cabinet...but there were a few mitigating factors...size being the main one. It had to be not too big in order to fit the limited space I had for it. As well, I wanted something that fitted in nicely with my existing cabinets & the overall vibe of the room. Luckily, I live in a region that it extremely well appointed with op shops & antique shops, so I felt that eventually something good would turn up. And so it was that I found this smaller Australian Art Deco cabinet in a local op shop. This type of "china cabinet" as it is commonly called here was made in a variety of styles from the 1930s through to the very early 1950s (yes, we tended to be a touch behind the times in design here, not necessarily a bad thing). This one is an example of my favourite style, a rounded off rectangular form.
I've quickly filled it with a selection of mostly Bohemian Art Nouveau glass in shades of green & blue. There are pieces by Loetz, Kralik, Welz, Rindskopf, plus some others currently unattributed. Also one example of Richardson's & a single piece of Tango glass in green.

I think Marin like a lot of us needs a bigger house! Only problem is then there is more to look after and clean. Nice cabinet!

Beautiful display cabinet Marin, nice score. I too have an overflow of glass, already have three cabinets but it's never enough!

Thanks also, Jenni - & it's a certainly dilemma us collectors can relate to!

      IronLace, Beautiful. :-)

Also, once the cabinet is in place and stocked with your collectibles, it probably cuts down on maintenance.

I have an etagere to display some coffee and tea services, and every time I contemplate dusting all of that, I start channeling Lurch Addams:

      Many thanks, keramikos!
Yes, I much prefer having things in cabinets due to the dusting factor, it is much easier to just give the outside of the cabinet a wipe over as needed than to deal with a bunch of glass items on a regular basis.
Loved the Lurch response, I'm a big fan of the Addams family!

The added bonus is that with Art Nouveau glass the predominant colour is green which brings calm to your cabinet. All lovely pieces too!

      Thanks so much, Peggy!
I agree, this cabinet display is very peaceful to gaze upon. The one to the left of it is mostly light yellow/uranium so much more vibrant. Plus, I've added a new piece today which is clear with light green veining...I'll post it tomorrow!
