I can tell this is vintage because there is no UPC symbol on the box. As the title says this is a railway crane, handy for the occasional derailment or working on rolling stock to replace the trucks and such. Train cars are quite heavy, it helps keep them on the tracks. There is supposed to be a second piece with this which is flatcar with a small caboose on the end. Luckily I have a similar one by another maker and I will have to drag it out and get them together. Anyway this one has a nice intricate string pulley system for the crane. I would hate to try and restring it. The crane turns 360 degrees and the boom moves up and down. There must be a key as I am not sure how to move the boom up and down.
One more locomotive to go for now.

AHM quit the business in the mid to late 1980’s. A blue box is early 1970’s, they switched to a silver/gray, about 79 or so. These are cool models, for sure. Nowadays, the wreck cleanup, and retailing you mentioned is done with a special made “side boom” bulldozer.
