Danbury Mint 1/24 Pewter Model Cars

Got these for Xmas. Three vintage pewter model cars from the Danbury Mint.

    1928 Lincoln Convertible
    1933 Pierce Silver Arrow
    1937 Cord 812

    AC-CORD-ING TO RESEARCH
There were about 2,900 Cords produced between 1936 and 1937. Not the first but, the 1937 Cord was the only front-wheel-drive production car available in America for the next three decades.

"Supercharged models were distinguished from the normally aspirated models by the brilliant chrome-plated external exhaust pipes mounted on each side of the hood and grill. With supercharging, horsepower was raised to 170." My model car would be an 812S.

    DANBURY MINT
Ralph Glendinning and Ted Stanley founded the Danbury Mint in 1969 as a subsidiary of Glendinning Companies. Their initial product was a series of medals commemorating the Apollo 11 Moon landing.

      dav2no1, Happy New Year. :-)

      Those are beautiful. <3

I did some poking around to try to find out the vintage, but about as much as I've gotten is that Danbury Mint started producing the pewter model cars in the late 1970s:

This guy disassembled some of his so that he could paint them ( >8-0 ):

I can't say that I understand that particular activity, because I think the unpainted pewter is beautiful.

Kera - Very cool. I can say that one of the cars had a scratch in the roof so I modified it. I polished the roof to a mirror finish. I think it looks really cool. But that's that hot rod gene..can't leave stuff like it is .lol
