Researching 5th Cav Now thanks, The material is faded, I'ts Old.
Wow after further research i believe this is an Original U.S. Army Cavalry Service Guidon. From Troop C, 5th Calvary. This was from the estate of a U.S. Army full bird Col.
If you can..go back and ask them for more history, names, etc. Could help with provenance and if it has history increases value. If you can get a name local vfw might be able to help.
Thx dav2no1,
I served in the 10th Cavalry and this guidon does not look quite right to me. I think it is a reproduction.. It was not uncommon for individuals to get copies of patches, guidons and flags made when serving overseas, especially in SE Asia. Many units also had custom patches made for units they served in.. I have a few of these in my cache of souvenirs from my military service.
Can you post an image of the other side? The materials and colors do not look right. This appears to be more more decorative.
kwqd, thanks I bending toward your response of reproduce. It looks old but not that old. Will post a reverse pic of the other side. Thank you!
