Steptoe1
(1979 items)
Hello I’ve been sorting through some bits & bob’s and Have come across this and realised that it’s a coin, seems that it’s a Mexican coin from what I can tell, hopefully someone knows more, I have no idea how it got twisted and bent
Steptoe1, Interesting. :-)
Insofar as I can tell, Mexico never issued any coins like that, e.g.:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?p=1&ru=4028&ct=coin&e=mexique
That is to say, no coins with an image of Maximiliano Emperador on the obverse, and an eagle on the reverse.
It's probably a fantasy round similar to the gold Maximiliano rounds, e.g.:

There is a wedding tradition in Mexico involving coins/rounds:

Thanks kera I had a look online and saw a few similar looking ones, but need to have another check
Steptoe1, You're welcome. :-)
More about the tokens:
*snip*
Mexican gold tokens began being produced in 1949 and continues to this day. They range from 8k to 22k gold, and a few varieties were also struck in silver.

I see quite a few of the silver variety out there on eBay, etc. and more than a few mounted in rings.
