Was driving around the Mojave desert and decided to go check out trains in Barstow. The museum is across from the depot and is part of an old Harvey House. Decided to make a post of it as the first thing I saw was a wide vision caboose just like the one I posted last week. It is the first photo. Next a more common type of caboose. That one is Union Pacific.
Next a pair of locomotives. ATSF 1460 is a Beep. Apparently it is a combination of GP locomotive and a Baldwin switcher. It is the cab and frame from Balwin and the rest is EMD. Baldwin hade made their locomotives which sounds good but the pieces didn't fit well for replacement parts.
Last is a SD40-2. It was known for its back porch. The 3 axle trucks took uo more room than the machinery on top.
Great Machines! thank you for sharing.
The SD40-2 is an engineer favorite and one of mine too. Love the porch and power!
Thank you very much Latas.
And thank you very much DejaVu, me too.
fortapache, They're all cool, but that red one: <3
