I did a little resarch and saw lots of other Arnott Biscuit boxes out there, but none quite like this one. Not in the best condition but what a lable on the front and back! The underside has the Parrot symbol of Arnott along w/ a lot of Chinese characters. I think it is a pretty early one.
ARROWROOTS !!!
These are very collectible here in Oz. I’ve not seen it’s like. ButI am not a tin collector. Score !!!!
Arnott’s is an Australian Icon. The factory in Homebush is still there but has an administrative role rather than producing product. The firm began in Newcastle …. a city 170 km north of Sydney. Mention of Homebush means post 1908.
The Chinese is so interesting. I will send a pic to a friend and ask for a translation if you’d like.
thank you vetraio! i'd love to learn whatever i can about this one.
Hi HO2 !!! My mate had a look at it and said that “the gist of it is as follows : YA-NI-SHI Superior biscuits. These biscuits are of the highest quality and made from the finest ingredients. The name Ya-Ni-Shi (Arnott’s) is a well known brand for many years. Customers are advised that there may be similar products of varying degrees of quality and are advised to carefully check the product brand as we will not be responsible for return of such product.”
Thanks David I. !!!!
Early Advertorial ???
