Going thru old pictures, came across this horse collar, we brought at auction over 25 years ago In upstate NY. Got it home and displayed it in our Barn. Wasn't there 2 days
When a guy offered me five times what we paid for it. I never should have sold it Greed hurts sometimes!!!
I never learned anything about it? Tried now to look it up. The name in brass is BALESTIE Fris. Looked it up on Google language? Left me more confused. Large enough for Draft horse's. This Buds for You!!!
Any help will be appreciated.
yougottahavestuff, This does seem a bit rare, and it's not just because Google Lens turned up only one sibling, but because a general search for the terms "Balestie Freres" or Balastie Fres" didn't turn up anything.
The sibling (yours was in much better condition):

Balestie Freres Harness Shop Trade Sign
36.5"x21"x5", the wood and metal trade sign has wear and damage, the leather is drying out, the horse hair stuffing is starting to come out, neat looking item.

It's characterized as a trade sign, which I suppose makes sense in terms of those "wings" with the company name on them.
There are plenty of vintage horse collars out there, but bupkes with regard to the brothers Balestie and their business.
That's pretty cool!! After my Dad passed away, nearly 15 years ago, we cleaned out his barn and there were two mule collars there. I wish I'd laid claim to them before someone else did.
Wow Kersmlkos!!! How do you do it??? Your Supernatural!! The UFO of information!!!
I knew back then I made a mistake selling it!! Many thanks for info. I'm going to put another item using a sewing machine base
Thanks Scott too. And loves!!!

yougottahavestuff, You're welcome, FWIW. :-)
For the record, I didn't do anything other than post what Google Lens found.
I only wish that Google Lens had been around when I was researching my parents' estate. I had to do all of that research the hard way. Well, the hard World Wide Web way, that is. };-)

With your search powers, you should apply for employment with the high end auction houses. They always need researchers.
I've marked my post solved!! Again many thanks!!
